SIX pupils have been killed and several others are seriously injured. This after a bakkie they were travelling in lost control and crashed into a wall of a house at Xikundi Village outside Malamulele, Limpopo on Friday, 16 April.
Limpopo transport and community safety spokesman Mike Maringa said six pupils who were certified dead at the scene were among pupils who hitchhiked from school.
“The driver of the bakkie and two other passengers were rushed to a local hospital in a critical condition. Three other passengers escaped the deadly crash with minor injuries,” said Maringa.
MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has sent messages of condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the survivors a speedy recovery.
Lerule-Ramakhanya said she was concerned that people continue to lose their lives on the roads due to negligence and speed.
