Since 2013, the Renault Captur has been a pioneer of the compact SUV market. And now the new model is here to capture drivers’ attention.

The French carmaker has sold more than 1,2 millions units worldwide since its introduction.

In its new guise, the Captur has reinvented itself without losing the unique identity that made the original such a success.

Featuring athletic and dynamic new looks, an even more welcoming and practical interior and setting new technology standards, the latest Captur has grown up.

It’s underpinned by the new Clio’s platform and is 110mm longer, with a higher waistline than the current model, giving it that SUV look.

Its muscular appearance is further enhanced by the tough-looking front and rear protection skid plates, as well as chunky protective mouldings that run the entire length of the lower body and the prominent wheel arch extensions.

The Captur shares its interior and dashboard design with that of its Clio sibling. Its floating console houses the latest tech. And Renault claims its 9,3inch infotainment screen is the largest in its category.

The key strength of the Captur is the adaptability of its interior, which has been further improved. The sliding rear bench seat has been carried over, which allows 16cm of movement to either create more space for passengers or increase the size of the boot.

The rear bench seat can also be folded down in a 1/3 or 2/3 pattern and the movable boot floor can be used to split the payload volume into two levels. This creates more space or a totally flat loading lip with hidden storage below.

On the engine front there’ a new 1,0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which produces 73kW and 160Nm. It also comes with the 1,3-litre turbocharged with 95kW and 240Nm variety. The 1,3-litre unit is also available in a higher state of tune with 114kW of power and 270Nm of torque.

There are also two turbodiesel options. The Captur’s gearbox is available with a size-speed manual and a new seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The new compact SUV will be launched next year.
