HER 40th birthday was one of her most memorable.
It was the day her husband Mzi surprised her with a brand new Hyundai Getz.
Remaketse “Rema” Thenjekwayo, from Tshepisong phase 7, in the West Rand, could not hide her excitement while talking to SunWheels. She said her man is full of surprises but this time, he went far beyond her wildest expectations.
“He bought me a watch and bracelet after I gave birth to our son but I lost the watch two weeks later on my way home from the clinic,” said the mum of two.
“When I phoned to tell him, he went out and replaced it.”
Q: Is it your first car?
A: No, it is my second. I had an old Ford Fiesta that I sold long ago. I used taxis since then.
Q: Why do you love it?
A: I love it so much because It is a present from my husband. It is also beautiful and saves me petrol. It’s easy to modify and low on maintenance.
Q: What are its best features?
A: I love everything but its 15-inch mags make it beautiful.
Q: Why did he choose silver?
A: He knows that I love silver. It makes the car look lively.
Q: Have you driven far in it?
A: No, it’s still new – I have not driven it on the highway yet.
Q: Who else can drive it?
A: Only Mzi and I can get behind the wheel – no one else is allowed to drive it.
Q: Does your car have a name?
A: I have not decided on a name yet but my husband has started calling it Remaketse after me.
Q: What do you think of other drivers on Mzansi roads?
A: Mzansi women are the best drivers on the road. I don’t know about others . . .
