I WAS smiling from ear-to-ear when I went behind the wheel of the Nissan Navara Stealth for a week, and not because of the irony in its name.
Thanks to its black-and-orange trim on the side steps, grille and front bumper, it doesn’t go unnoticed.
It’s a double-cab with attitude.
The Stealth’s looks add a touch of sportiness to the Navara. And its 2.3L twin-turbo engine is the same as the one in all the Navaras. It kicks out power at 140kW and torque at 450Nm, and the seven-speed automatic gearbox’s responsiveness is sound.
The test unit offered a comfortable ride on the tarmac, destroying speed bumps and other nuisance on the road. The Navara Stealth has a healthy ground clearance of 129 mm.
It boasts a coil spring rear suspension and notold-school leaf springs like its competitors.
Its handling and cornering was impressive for a bakkie on steroids. It also doesn’t shy away from showing its prowess when it comes to bundu bashing.
It’s available in 4x2 manual and auto as well as 4x4 auto configurations, as in the test unit we had.
The Navara Stealth hold its own in a very competitive market and this pimped Navara oozes comfort.
