TWO men were allegedly killed in a horrific crash after their hatchback lost control and crashed into a tree on the side of the road.

The accident happened at Arthurseat Village outside Acornhoek near Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga in the early hours of Friday morning, 23 July.

According to Bushbuckridge Municipality’s Fire & Rescue acting chief, Nollen Mkhatshwa, their team responded to an emergency crash where a sedan reportedly lost control and hit a tree along the R40 that connects Bushbuckridge and Acornhoek.

“Upon arrival at the scene, two male occupants were found trapped inside the vehicle and Jaws of Life had to be used to retrieve the occupants and unfortunately they were both certified dead by paramedics at the scene.

“The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage but possible over speeding can’t be ruled out. We want to appeal to motorists to follow speed limits on the roads,” said Mkhatshwa.
