OWNING a really nice, posh and comfortable car is something only the wealthy can do, right?
Well, you are wrong.
You have Peugeot 3008 to thank because owning such a car could be a reality for everyone.
Okay, no jokes, look at what the new Peugeot 3008 has and look at the price below, then tell me if I’m wrong when I say comfort driving has become a possibility for all of us.
The fresh design sets the tone for modern styling in the new 3008. It has a new frameless grille with some fluid lines extended with nice fins under the headlamps.
The line from front to tear makes the car look sporty and faster.
The GT boasts its own distinct grille to emphasise this upgrade.
Still on the front though, the headlamps have been redesigned to be more aggressive with some LED technology supported by hook-like daytime running lights with chrome tips.
Fog lights are replaced with what the brand calls the “foggy mode” function integrated into the LED headlamps, which switch on the low beam automatically when the rear fog lamps are activated.
I’ll be doing you a disservice if I don’t tell you a bit about the interior of the 3008, which the manufacturer rightfully refers to as the cockpit. Don’t just hop in immediately after opening the doors. Take your time to look, feel and admire the car because it’s breathtaking.
The new 10-inch screen is accompanied by seven elegant piano keys or toggle switches, putting the driver in full control of the radio, aircon, navigation system with a voice command, car settings, cellphone applications and hazard warning lights.
The GT model seats are covered in new red Kappa leather which, according to Peugeot, is the best type of leather as it’s ncaa.
The technology in the 3008 includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go function on the GT, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking which detects pedestrian, cyclists from 5km per hour to 140 depending on the version.
The engine is a six-speed auto transmission, 1.6-litre four-cylinder THP petrol turbo with 121kW power output and 240Nm torque. This allows the 3008 to accelerate to 100km in 8,9 seconds yet still drink 7-litres of fuel per 100kms driven, very frugal, don’t you think?
Now, why did I say this is affordable? In other brands, you’d pay anything from R700 000 plus but for all mentioned above, you pay this:
Peugeot 3008 Active - R514 900
Peugeot 3008 Allure - R574 900
Peugeot 3008 GT - R644 900
