IF you need a new compact hatchback, the Ford Fiesta ticks all the right boxes.

Ford has done a lot to improve the Fiesta – it’s one of the more impressive cars in its highly competitive market.

SunWheels tested the 1,5 TDCi Trend version – the only version in its range with a turbodiesel engine.

The Trend’s trim has all the features such as stylish 15-inch alloy wheels you expect.

Ford did not change much when they upgraded the model – it appears much the same as the earlier model. Its most notable change is the horizontal tail lights.

The inside is filled with more soft-touch materials, a modernised layout and a large touchscreen display which dominates the centre console. This multimedia system has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, offers a Bluetooth connection, voice control and air conditioning too. It also has a good 303 litre-sized boot space.

A big strength of our test car was its 1,5-litre turbodiesel engine fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox that uses just 3,3-litres of fuel every 100km.
