THE stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
This famous psalm was quoted by Dr Pemella Zulu to describe her VW Jetta. She wanted a fun kasi car unlike the fancy vehicles other pastors drive.
Dr Zulu is a doctor of theology and owner of the Throne of Grace church.
Q: When did you buy your rejected stone?
A: 2011.
Q: Is it your first car?
A: No, I owned a Renault Sonic, VW Polo, BMW and Mercedes Benz before. I also own an Audi Q5.
Q: Why choose a Jetta?
A: It makes me feel so excited and cool. I love it.
Q: What features do you love?
A: The dashboard and the interior are wonderful but the exterior makes me appreciate being a simple person.
Q: Have you named it?
A: I call it Pontsonono.
Q: Have you changed anything?
A: No but I am planning to drop the suspension, put on BBS mags and tint the back window so I can make it a kasi girl car.
Q: Do you like the colour?
A: Yes, white is reflective and easy to clean.
Q: How far have you travelled?
A: I have travelled to Kimberley in the Northern Cape, Durban in KZN, Swaziland and many Gauteng kasis.
Q: Have you had any fines?
A: One. It was for parking in the wrong spot. I felt so guilty that I now make sure not to break the law again.
Q: Who else can drive Pontsonono?
A: No one.
Q: How do you feel about other Mzansi road users?
A: People let their emotions drive their vehicles but they don’t have to choose to be rude on the road. People must take a deep breath and calm down when someone else upsets them. We all have to drive on the Lord’s roads to let’s do it properly.
