DIESEL power has been added to the new 3008.
The French carmaker added a turbodiesel engine to its multiple-award winning SUV range.
Until recently, buyers only had the option of a 1,6-litre turbopetrol unit but now it comes with a 2,0-litre HDi turbodiesel engine as well.
The 3008 Active HDi is fitted with a six speed manual gearbox while all the other variants have an automatic gearbox.
According to Peugeot this four-cylinder engine is compact, lightweight and fuel efficient due to its reduced weight and size.
The turbodiesel delivers power and can reach a top speed of 201km/h. It sips 5,0 litres fuel every 100 kilometres.
The 3008, which is a finalist in the latest South African Car of the Year competition too, offers decent interior space in spite of a rather compact exterior size. Boot space is also quite good at 520 litres.
It also comes with class leading technology and safety features – a highlight in the cabin is the iCockpit which means the 3008 has a digital screen in front of the driver showing information such as speed, engine performance and other needed information.
The 3008 HDi is available in Active and Allure trim, while the petrol model comes in the GT-Line trim too. Pricing for the diesel 3008 starts at R474 900. The price includes a four-year/60 000km service plan and a three-year/100 000km manufacturer warranty.
