BMW unveil new 8 series coupe

BMW finally unveiled the 8 Series Coupe in all its glory.

The 8 Series sits atop the BMW range. All the new car technology, the design will be first seen on the 8 series and will all trickle down the range.

The 8 Series Coupe breaks cover in 850i xDrive M Performance guise.

Featuring a highly revised 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing a whopping 390-kW and 750-Nm of torque.

BMW says the 8 Series Coupe presents the redefining of a sports car.

So they make it a point to let anyone who cares to listen that it was developed parallel to the M8 and M8 GTE endurance race car.

The 8 Series Coupe features a rear axle differential lock, adaptive M suspension, Active roll stabilization and active steering and another long list of features to make sure that the 8 Series handles like a sports car.

The V8 in the 850i xDrive M Performance (only version coming to Mzansi in the first quarter of 2019) puts power through the latest 8-Speed automatic, it goes to all four wheels via a rear-biased xDrive system.

The near 5-metre long coupe will rocket to 100-km/h in 3.7 seconds from standstill, topping out an electronically limited 250-km/h.

The 8 Series features the latest interior design for BMW.

It also features the new Live Cockpit Professional system with iDrive 7.0 which we will be seeing in the new X5.

The glass gear selector which we saw in the concept car made it to the production model.
