Opel has released its eagerly awaited Opel Corsa GSi and SunWheels is holding thumbs that this hotty will make its way here!
After all, the GSi badge is legendary in South Africa – especially among South African Opel fans who remember the iconic Kadett GSi! If it comes to local shores, it will probably replace the existing Sport or slot in above it.
It is powered by Opel’s lively 1,4-litre turbopetrol engine. The engine is fitted with a short-ratio, six-speed gearbox which, according to Opel, delivers an outstanding punch of power in second and third gear.
The sporty hatch is therefore very quick off the mark. Opel claimed it races zero to 100km/h in 8,9 seconds and has a top speed is limited to 207km/h.
The Corsa GSi is also built on top of a sport chassis. It has disc brakes with red-painted specialised callipers.
The high performance of the Corsa GSi is complemented by its athletic exterior looks. The looks feature large air intakes, a sculpted bonnet, a prominent wing or spoiler at the rear, sexy alloy wheels and precision-made side sills.
The front of the Opel GSi looks bold because of the large honeycomb grille and the central Opel Blitz brand that’s supported by two wings.
Also included are the two exterior-rear view mirror housings in carbon black which add to the racing look.
The vibrant styling is obvious when viewed from the rear where the prominent spoiler on the edge of the roof creates additional downforce at speed. There is a racy, chrome-finished exhaust pipe.
On the inside the glam feel continues with a sports steering-wheel, leather gearshift knob, aluminium pedals and a performance seat.
