What you need to know about engine misfires.
What you need to know about engine misfires.

Engine misfires are one of the most common problems.

There are different causes of engine misfires and it’s not easy to analyse and solve the problem if you don’t know where to start.

Here are some signs and symptoms of a misfiring cylinder:

) Rough acceleration When a misfire occurs, you can feel a light or massive jerk coming from the engine.

) Rough idle Rough idling is easy to determine as your car starts to deliver poor performance and sometimes the engine stops running when you are idling.

  • Sometimes the engine will misfire on idle also, and your sensors will get faulty values and the air-fuel mixture will get messed up. Vibration When one cylinder is not firing correctly, the engine will become unbalanced.
  • This can cause heavy vibrations inside the cabin on acceleration or at idle.)
  • Check engine light Modern cars have great monitoring for all the different car sensors on the engine.

If the problem persists, the engine control unit will light up the “check engine light” to notify you that something is not right.

) Slow acceleration It can cause lowered acceleration and even put your car into limp mode.

) Engine sound changed If your car sound is extraordinary strange, it is most likely engine misfire that you hear.
