SUNWHEELS knows the type of buyers we have today – they don’t only want a car for its looks but also its excellent performance. They will find the new Nissan Micra winning over their hearts.

In just a few weeks, Nissan will reveal the new Micra hatch. It sports a sharp design you would normally only see on sport cars.

The manufacturer said the edgy new Micra is revolutionising the upper B hatchback market with a unique blend of intuitive technology, bold design and confident and agile handling.

It’s a game changer in its market and you’ll be sorry you missed out if you get impatient and choose something else before it’s launched on our shores.

Nissan Africa’s managing director of marketing, sales and aftersales, Xavier Gobille, said: “What we’re saying about the new Micra is: do not expect it.

“This is because it is a completely new car from the ground up.

Everything about the new Micra has changed from the older version – except the name – and it is a car we’re very excited about.”

Powered by an energetic turbocharged 66kW engine, the new Nissan Micra is likely to make its mark in the upper A hatchback market while the Micra Active, which was launched last year, will remain Nissan’s offering in the lower B hatchback market.

Featuring a sculpted body with strong design lines and an interior that puts the customer at the heart of the experience, the new Micra matches your individual character with an impressive list of features.

These include everything from a modern infotainment system that uses Apple CarPlay right down to comprehensive safety features in the form of six airbags, an anti-lock braking system and electronic brakeforce distribution.

More details, including pricing, will be released closer to the launch next month.

However, we do know that the new Micra will, of course, be sold with the Nissan three-year/90 000km service plan, a six-year/150 000km warranty and 24-hour roadside assist.

Safety technology that comes with the new Micra include:

Intelligent lane intervention: This is a lane departure warning and prevention system.

When activated, the steering-wheel gently vibrates and the car’s brakes are individually applied to guide the car back into its lane.

Intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian recognition: This avoids impacts or reduces their severity.

Blind spot warning: Radar sensors installed in the rear bumper activate to warn the driver – with visuals and sounds – of other vehicles in adjacent lanes. This reduces the risk of an impact when pulling out.

Every new Micra comes with six airbags as standard as well as seat belt warnings and seat belt-height adjustment for the front and rear. Isofix child seats can be used with the new Micra, including in the front passenger seat.

Electronic safety systems include an electronic stability programme, anti-lock brakes, and hill start assist. A speed limiter, automatic headlight sensor, automatic hazard lights and a tyre pressure monitoring system are also fitted to every Micra.
