Suzuki’s Jimny is built to handle the wilderness.

Replacing its predecessor after a successful 20-year life cycle, the new Suzuki Jimny has finally arrived.

It’s available in two versions: the GA and GLX. Other options include a five-speed manual, a four-speed automatic gearbox and other features.

All Jimny’s come with the Allgrip Pro 4x2, 4x4 and 4x4 low-range drive shifter and rigid ladder-frame chassis.

The design is not changed too much from the old model because its built for practicality, not looks.

The flat surfaces make water and snow slide off.

The flatness of the bonnet and cabin shape increase visibility while the upright windshield shields the driver from the sun.

The boxy cabin frame allows the roof to handle weight and the upright design of the roof pillars enables the roof to roll safely without collapsing.

Overland enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that the front and rear bumpers are angled to keep them out of the way of rocks and shrubs.

The mechanical four-wheel drive system is improved by Suzuki’s proprietary brake-limited-slip-differential and electronic stability controls. Brake LSD is supported by hill-hold and hill-descent control, which is standard.

Buyers can choose between five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearboxes.

Colours include three two-tone and five single-tone colours.

The Jimny comes with a five-year/200 000km warranty and a four-year/60 000km service plan.
