IT SEEMS drivers want as much function from their cars as their smartphones.
What do smartphones offer drivers?
Drivers want the connectivity and convenience of their smartphones while driving, without the problems phones bring.
How do vehicles provide connectivity?
Systems such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow drivers with Android phones (such as Samsung phones) or Apple phones to connect to the car’s infotainment system. The car’s system mirrors what’s in their smartphones. This allows a vehicle’s occupants to use their phone apps with their vehicle’s infotainment system.
How does it work?
The vehicle connects to the phone with a a USB cable or by Bluetooth, which allows everything on the phone, such as music, phonecalls and satellite navigation to be accessed through the vehicle’s display centre.
