THE ways we measure our successes are as different as we are.
As a teenager, Mpho Howell dreamt of owning an open-top convertible so she could feel the breeze and sunlight when she drove around.
Now Mpho, from Winchester Hills, Joburg, has made her dreams real by buying a Renault Megane Coupé.
The make-up artist, director and founder of Make Up and Special Effects by Gift, knows that achievements are only worthwhile if they are a challenge.
“I worked very hard to own a slahla and now I am living my dream.”
Q: When did you buy your car?
A: I bought her in June.
Q: Why do love this car?
A: Since I was a teenager I always wanted to own a convertible car and now I do.
While my car creates flames everywhere I go, she also makes me money.
As a makeup artist, I make up clients for weddings and matric dances but I also hire my car to drive them around. I am always booked out.
Q: Is she your dream car?
A: No. While I love my Gold Flame, my dream car is a Red Range Rover with white seats.
Q: What features do you love?
A: I love all of her features – especially that she has so much space inside.
Q: Would you change your car?
A: No, my car is perfect as it is.
Q: Have you driven her far yet?
A: Not yet, she is still new. I am planning to visit Cape Town or Durban next year.
Q: Who else can drive her?
A: My daughter Lerato and my sister Lebo. I trust them because they are my family.
Q: How many fines do you have?
A: None. I am cautious behind the wheel.
Q: What do you think of other drivers on Mzansi roads?
A: We need to drive more cautiously so we all can get home safe every day.
