THE petrol price is set to drop again in December.

According to mid-month data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF), a litre of petrol will drop by 35 cents while diesel will drop by 5 cents per litre.

The Automobile Association (AA) says illuminating paraffin will likely decrease by 10 cents a litre.

The recent international prices of refined petrol ended a month-long price decline.

The international price of diesel shot up by nearly 20%, before pulling back somewhat, while petrol was up more than 15%.

The rand traded stronger against the US dollar in recent weeks amid the US elections, where there were doubts over who would claim victory between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Following Biden’s victory, market tensions around the elections were removed, and appetite for riskier assets has now been renewed.
