THE new Ford Figo is here and the SunWheels crew was lucky enough to drive it to Cullinan and back.
A fresh design and modern look is one thing but Ford Motor Company is changing its game with the Figo, already a strong competitor in its market.
Adding to its appeal is the introduction of a new standard but comprehensive four-year/60 000km service plan – a unique offering in this class.
Key to the Figo’s more modern, refined appearance is an attractive new front-end bumper with a honeycomb grille. New chrome inserts in the headlamps add extra sophistication.
The rear has a new bumper design that gives the car a notably more contemporary character.
The new White Gold exclusive paint option is only available on the Figo Trend. The previous Figo custom colours include Oxford White, Absolute Black, Smoke, Deep Impact Blue, Ruby Red and Moondust Silver.
The entry-level Ambiente comes as a four-door sedan or five-door hatchback. It has electric front windows – with one-touch operation on the driver’s side, immobiliser, power steering, adjustable steering wheel and adjustable headlights.
The Ford Audio units have an integrated display and four speakers with Bluetooth, USB and device dock connections.
Other features on the Trend include remote central locking, a belt minder for driver and front passenger, power rear windows with child lock, rear window defroster, perimeter anti-theft alarm and a gear-shift indicator for manuals.
It has 14-inch alloy wheels, powered side mirrors, the distinctive chromed grille, front fog lamps and full colour coding for the door handles and mirrors.
The Figo range gets a 1,5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine but only the five-door Trend hatch gets the automatic gearbox.
