BMW fan boys rejoice, your favourite M product is getting an upgrade. 2 years since it went on sale, the M2 is finally getting the Competition Package treatment.
Since its launch, the M2 has been the darling of the motoring press, with many calling it a return to form for the M Division.
It was classic M Division offering; offering no-nonsense, Pure Driving Pleasure we've all come to expect from the Bavarians.
Using M Division's classic formula, stick a big engine in a small car and send all the power from that engine to the rear wheels. It was a winner from the get-go.
Now BMW is readying to reveal the M2 Competition Package.
And details of the upcoming car have leaked online. Competition Package is BMW
M Division giving their tyre shredding cars a more focused fix.
This means a bump in power and a reworking of the chassis and suspension, visual upgrades are a bonus. The M2 Competition Package is no different.
BMW has now fitted a bigger (thanks to turbos) engine into
the M2, using a detuned version of the engine found in the M2's bigger brother
the M4.
Here the twin-turbocharged engine produces 302-kW and 550-Nm. According to the leaked details, the 0-100km/h time stays the same as the “standard” M2 DCT at 4.2 seconds.
Visual upgrades include bigger black alloy wheels, new angular grille, a redesigned front bumper and blacked out badges and the M4's side mirrors.
Inside the M2 Competition Package gets big brothers seats, and steering with M1 and M2 buttons. Those buttons are used to configure the M2 Competition Package to the driver's liking, something missing in the standard M2.
The M2 Competition Package is expected to be unveiled at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show.
