Ezekiel Khutsoane from Protea Glen, Soweto, is in the business of fixing cars.
According to him, his job is tiring, so he rides when he needs some fresh air.
“Riding clears my head and humbles me. I’m glad my wife also rides. I love the faces of my family members when they see us riding,” he said.Q: Which model is your bike?A: I own a Yahama R1000. It’s amazing and attracts a lot of attention.Q: When did you buy your bike?A: I bought it in 2018.Q: How many bikes have you owned?A: This my third. I had a Kawasaki ZX10 and a BMW K1200S.Q: What do you want other road users to know about bikes?A: Motorists drive as if they don’t know there are bikers on the same road. That attitude needs to change. Drivers can’t change lanes without observing. It’s very dangerous and deadly.
Some drivers are plain rude and don’t allow us the right of way.Q: Have you gone on long trips?A: Yes, I’ve travelled as far as the Eastern Cape, Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland. I love it on the open road on long distance trips.Q: Would you allow another person to ride your bike?A: Yes, I’d allow my teammate, Mgistana, to ride my bike. He’s great with bikes.Q: Do you belong to a bikers’ club?A: Yes, I belong to a riding club called the Big Sellers, which was founded in the Free State.Q: What makes you a safe rider?A: I’m a careful rider because I follow the guidelines of the K53 and respect other riders and motorists alike.
The riding gear makes a big difference because you need to own a quality jacket and trousers before you get on the road.
