Police have arrested a motorist for clocking over 200km/h on an Ekurhuleni road.
Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) arrested the man on Saturday morning, for speeding on the N3 freeway in Alberton.
"At 07:45 in the Alberton area, the EMPD Speed Enforcement Unit Officers, monitoring the N3 freeway direction south by Grey Avenue, which is zoned 120km/h, stopped a silver/grey Mercedes Benz sedan, driven by a 27-year-old male, for clocking 203km/h without a sound reason, instead of 120km/h," said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.
The suspect was escorted to Alberton police station and charged with reckless and negligent driving.
The driver was one of 33 arrested in Alberton, Boksburg, and Germiston on Friday and Saturday.
The 32 other arrests were for drunken driving – the motorists were between 29 and 50 years old. The suspects are expected to appear in the Boksburg, Palmridge, and Germiston magistrates courts soon.
