SUZUKI is on a mission to modernise its line-up.
The latest news that the Vitara and Ciaz will be replaced with newer upgrades, has been updated to include a new version of the Baleno as well.
While the Baleno is not as popular as the Swift, Ignis and Jimny, it is a solid vehicle for people looking for a big hatchback.
Interior and boot space are some of the Baleno’s most impressive features – it has a 355-litre boot size which jumps to 1 085 litres when the rear seats are folded down.
Official pictures show that the facelifted Baleno sports a more aggressive front with a new front bumper, a more prominent grille and LED projector headlights – with daytime running lights. There are also new alloy wheel design. The rear-end appears unchanged.
There are slight improvements on the inside too. The most significant change is a new infotainment system with a seven-inch multimedia system display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions.
Rear parking sensors are now standard across the Suzuki range, as are a speed warning and seat-belt reminders.
Under the bonnet, the new Baleno will again feature retain the existing naturally aspirated 1,4-litre petrol engine that’s fitted with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.
Suzuki South Africa is due to add the freshened Baleno to its upgraded model range in September.
In typical Suzuki fashion, pricing should be quite competitive and all models are expected to be well-equipped with all the necessary safety features and more.
