SUVs are all the rage right now. Every manufacturer got one in their range. And with the uber-luxurious manufacturers like Roll-Royce getting their hands into the cookie jar, things are bound to get expensive.
If you have just won the lottery and looking for something for the school run. Here's a list of SUVs you can look at buying to conquer the concrete jungle in.
5. Mercedes-AMG G63 STRONGER THAN TIME Edition - R 3,303,643
Coming at number 5 is the G-Class, probably the most capable SUV in the line-up and the only thing here you'd want to use when you are tired of just mounting curbs in Sandton and want to go bundu bashing, taking on thaba Mafadi or Lesotho's Thabana Ntlenyana.
It might be a brick aerodynamic wise and weight 2.5-tonnes but the 4.0-litre Biturbo V8 with 430 kW and 850 Nm still manages to push it through the wind to achieve a 0-100km/h time of 4.5s and go all the way up to 240km/h with the limiter off.
At R 3,303,643, STRONGER THAN TIME Edition G63 is a bargain, considering the off-road capabilities and just straight out cool the G63 oozes.
This ko Kasi is cooler than some of the more expensive cars on this list.
4. Lamborghini Urus - R3 495 000
Ahh the Urus, I thought it'd be higher up the list to honest. But the base spec Urus is only R200 000 more expensive than the most expensive G-Class.
A few checks on the options list are sure to push up the price way higher though.
The Urus is more about on the circuit and straight-out performance than going up mountains.
Using a turbocharged4.0 litre V8 pushing out 478 kW and 850 Nm of torque. The sprint to 100km/h is dealt with in 3.6s and the 2-tonne SUV will top out at 305km/h.
3. Range Rover SVAUTOBIOGRAPHY 5.0 Litre LR-V8 Supercharged Petrol (416kW) - R4 315 200
Probably the only car that would give the G-Class a run for its money off-road.
The top of the range Range Rover in long-wheelbase, SVAUTOBIOGRAPHY with its 5.0 Litre LR-V8 Supercharged Petrol (416kW).
It is often referred to as the S-Class of SUVs (wonder what the GLS has to say about that) because of its uber-luxurious interior and superior off-roading abilities.
And the 5.0 Litre V8 Supercharged Petrol sits on top of the food chain with 416 kW and 700 Nm of torque.
It weighs in at 2.6-tonnes but it will beat the Golf GTI to 100km/h by 0.2 seconds with a time of 5.5 seconds. It tops out at 225km/h.
2. Bentley Bentayga Mulliner - R5 795 000
The Mulliner has been dethroned by the Rolls-Royce Cullinan as the most expensive SUV in Mzansi.
The Mulliner sits on top of the Bentayga range, beating out the Speed.
It uses a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged Direct Injection W12 pushing out 447 kW and a whopping 900 Nm of torque.
It does the 0-100 in 4.0 second, 0.4 seconds slower than its cousin the Urus and it will top out 4km/h short of the Urus' 305 top speed.
1. Rolls-Royce Cullinan - Price to be announced
I know it's weird putting it at the top of the list with local pricing still to be announced but the Cullinan will definitely beat out anything in Mzansi, it already beats out anything in the world!
Named after the Cullinan, the worlds largest gem-quality rough diamond ever found in Mzansi in 1905 the RR Cullinan is king of the SUV range.
Nothing comes close in terms of presence, appeal and luxury. The Cullinan brings Roll-Royce's famous magic carpet ride to an off-road vehicle.
And the Cullinan isn't just a jacked-up Phantom a lot of work went in ensuring that the thing is the pinnacle of luxury travel, effortless everywhere.
It uses a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 Rolls-Royce with 420 kW and 580 Nm of torque to haul its 2.6-tonne self to 100km/h in around 5.2s topping out at 250km/h.
