ZAMANI'S PROTECTED FROM FRAUD

accreditation

THE FACTS

ZAMANI Sibiya from Eden Park in Alberton, Gauteng said when he lost his ID he reported it to the police.

When he applied for a loan at Capitec Bank, it was rejected.

Then he was blacklisted for not paying a loan he didn’t take. He also lost his job but was refused UIF payment because the system showed he still worked at Fidelity Security Services. He found that his ID was being used by someone who worked at the security company.

WHAT I DID

I called Fidelity to check and advise on how it could help Zamani.

SOLUTION

The company’s Wahl Bartmann said Zamani’s ID was used to borrow money and they listed it on Zamani’s credit bureau profile to protect him. If they remove the status, there could be more illegal acts against his name.

They have escalated the matter to Compuscan Credit Bureau. Zamani can contact the bureau on 021 888 6000 to confirm this. Bartmann asked Zamani to send them the police case number and investigating officer’s details for listing on the fraud alert report.

If the ID is illegally used again for credit, the credit provider will call the investigating officer.
