THE FACTS

TEBOHO Motsekoa from Zastron in the Free State said he took out a policy with Sanlam Sky.

He claimed that although he cancelled the policy in the first month, Sanlam continued to deduct premiums from his salary. When he contacted the company he couldn’t get help. He contacted the SunDefender for help.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to Elmi Kemp at Sanlam.

SOLUTION

Kemp confirmed that Teboho cancelled his policy on 16 May this year. Kemp said the process of cancelling a stop order could take up to three months after the first premium has been deducted.

Tebogo’s employer has confirmed the last deduction would be from his salary for this month. Once they’ve received proof, they will refund Tebogo.
