THE FACTS

VERONICA Potsane from Mamelodi, Tshwane said she applied for her UIF in 2016 but she couldn’t get the money.

She claimed she was told her former employer said she resigned, even though she submitted a UI-19 form. The form indicated she was dismissed from work.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to an official from the labour department.

SOLUTION

It seems Veronica filed a complaint in November last year, which she thought was for a UIF claim. In May the department told her to submit a UIF claim, which she did.

The claim was rejected and she was advised to lodge an appeal, which has since been approved.

The department has made her aware and asked her to send the banking details so she could be paid.
