THEY NEED PROOF JOE

accreditation

THE FACTS

JOSEPH Maketa from Tembisa, Ekurhuleni said he was hurt on duty in June last year. In October he applied for workmen’s compensation at the labour department’s Kempton Park offices.

Joseph said he was told payment would be made at the end February this year. But he still hasn’t received payment. He came to the SunDefender.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to Elizabeth Mthetwa at the labour department, who promised to investigate.

SOLUTION

Mthetwa said to assess if there was any temporary total disability, they need medical reports with clinical descriptions and the treatment received.

She said the reports captured by doctors on the umehluko system don’t have detailed information. She requested that Joseph submit copies of the medical reports and certificates. They should include the date fit for duty, resumption of duties and proof of earnings at the time of the accident so that his claim could be finalised.
