THE FACTS
Daniel Mereko from Vaal Park in Gauteng said on 25 May last year, he bought a 2011 Toyota Hilux Xtra cab.
It cost R201 710 and the extras, charged separately from the vehicle, came to R21 929.
Daniel wants to know if it’s legal for the seller to charge him for the extras, as they were already part of the car.
WHAT I DID
I spoke to SCORPION LEGAL PROTECTION SERVICESto get advice.
SOLUTION
The dealership can’t charge for extras that are part of the vehicle, as it breaks the credit agreement. Failing a response from the dealership, Daniel can go to the National Credit Regulator to investigate.
