LAKHI Matomela from Elspark in Ekurhuleni has not received his cash after completing Old Mutual’s provident fund withdrawal forms last July, when he stopped work.


I spoke to Old Mutual.


Carmen Williams from their complaints section said they tried to call Lakhi to explain the problems with his payout but they couldn’t reach him.

They need a tax directive from Sars, which declined their request as the ID number Lakhi provided was different from the one on their database.

Lakhi’s claim can’t be paid until he confirms his ID number with Sars and informs Old Mutual, so they can apply for a new directive. A letter was sent to Lakhi as they couldn’t get hold of him on the phone number provided.
