THE FACTS
RUDOLPH Talane from Springs, Ekurhuleni had car insurance with Prime Meridian Insurance.
In April, as he was travelling in his car it caught fire and he put in a claim with his insurance.
He was sent a letter by the insurance firm that they would not be paying him out for the damages and that his insurance had been cancelled. He decided to write to the SunDefender for help.
WHAT I DID
I spoke to the insurance company to find out why it wouldn’t pay.
SOLUTION
The insurance company sent me the policy document which sets out that the policy that Rudolph took out didn’t cover fires coming from inside the car, including the engine and luggage compartments.
When you take out an insurance policy, please make sure you understand what the policy covers so you can decide if it’s the right policy for your needs.
