THE FACTS

PHINDILE Cele from Mayberry Park in Alberton, Ekurhuleni, said she had a bond with Absa, and when her husband died the house was paid in full.

She contacted the bank asking for the title deed, but she was told there was an outstanding balance on her bond account.

She said she had no knowledge of the balance, and when she asked the bank for clarity she got no help.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to Absa to find out how Phindile could be helped.

SOLUTION

Gillian du Toit, head of strategic communications at Absa, said they were not permitted to disclose confidential details about their customers to other parties.

But she confirmed they had spoken to Phindile and that she was happy with the outcome.
