THE FACTS

NOFEZILE Bhusakwe from Indwe in the Eastern Cape told the SunDefender her son Mabhuti Bhusakwe died in 2008 and wasn’t married.

Upon his death, she travelled to the offices of the Metal Industries Benefit Funds Administrators to submit an application for his provident funds.

She was advised that all payments would be made within seven days but has been waiting for the payment since.

She hasn’t been contacted by the fund regarding progress of her application.

WHAT I DID

I asked the fund to investigate and advise if the application had been received, and if so what was causing the delay with the payment.

SOLUTION

Michele Cloete-Collopen, death claims head, said Nofezile applied for her late son’s benefit in June 2008. She received payment in full in April 2009. There are no further benefits due.

The fund will contact the beneficiary to provide further details.
