THE FACTS
MMOLOKENG MAMPHO from Windmill Park, Boksburg in Ekurhuleni said he claimed for compensation after being injured at work.
But he was only paid R11 000 in compensation.
Seeing his injuries were serious, he applied to lodge an objection, and was told the office was still consolidating the rest of the claim.
When there wasn’t any progress on his claim, he came to the SunDefender.
WHAT I DID
I asked the labour department’s compensation fund to investigate.
SOLUTION
Themba Mdluli from the fund said medical evidence from the case showed that Mmolokeng’s disablement was assessed as permanent.
If he is not satisfied with the commissioner’s decision, he can complete an objection form and submit it. The objection should have been lodged within 180 days upon receipt of the payment.
If this has been done already, a copy of the objection form must be sent for the office to follow up.
