THE FACTS
MARRIAM Sithole from Tladi, Soweto, is a domestic worker and has been working for her employer for more than five years.
When she wants to take leave, her employer always has a problem. She contacted the SunDefender to ask if she’s entitled to leave.
ADVICE
According to the Labour Relations Act, domestic workers who’re employed full time are entitled to three weeks leave a year.
However, an arrangement can be made with the employer on how the leave is taken. By law, the leave is granted after you’ve completed 12 months of work.
