THE FACTS
MOLEBOHENG Modiroa from Orange Farm, south of Joburg, came to our offices looking for help.
She said her mother had a home loan with Standard Bank.
When she died the family realised the home loan was paid up and there was an excess amount of R14 000.
Standard Bank informed Molebogeng her mother had R5 000 outstanding on her credit card.
It said the R5 000 would be deducted from the excess amount on her home loan and the balance paid to her. But the refund was not made.
WHAT I DID
I spoke to Standard Bank to find out when she would be paid.
SOLUTION
Standard Bank confirmed the matter was being sorted out by the deceased estate division. Molebogeng was finally paid what was due to her. The credit card balance was also paid up.
