He wrote to the SunDefender, saying his manager sent them messages that sick notes from doctors outside Gauteng won’t be accepted.
He said they’d be considered absent without leave, should they submit such sick notes.
Joe wants to know why he can’t submit a sick note he obtained outside Gauteng.
THE ADVICE
A sick note should be accepted as long as it meets the legal requirements. There must be a valid reason for the employer to reject a sick note.
The employer is entitled to reject a suspicious- looking sick note.
