HILDA SHOULD SUBMIT INVOICE

accreditation

THE FACTS

HILDA Modisane from Orange Farm, south of Joburg, was involved in a car accident in 2012. She sustained serious injuries.

She said was treated at LenMed Hospital. Hilda said the medical certificate that she was given only covers public hospitals.

The Road Accident Fund refused to pay for her loss of income. She came to SunDefender asking for help.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to Road Accident Fund’s Boniswa Matshoba.

SOLUTION

Matshoba said the RAF Undertaking Certificate covers all medical costs relating to an accident, regardless of the choice of hospital or the doctor.

Hilda can submit invoices to the fund after consulting a doctor or the doctor can obtain pre-authorisation from the fund and submit the invoice later. The patient must tell the doctor she has a certificate before being treated. Regarding the loss of income, call centre agents will inform claimants of the status of their claims.
