Gloria Ndhlozi from Tshepong, Sebokeng in the Vaal said as a pensioner she’s only supposed to pay R74 for her TV licence. But she’s still being charged the full amount although she’s provided the SABC with proof she’s a pensioner. She came to the SunDefender for help.
WHAT I DID
I spoke to the SABC to have her account sorted out.
Lucelle Hobbs from the SABC customer services advised that pensioners only qualify to pay R74 if they receive a pension from government in the form of a grant.
If Gloria receives a grant she has to apply to the SABC and supply a letter from Sassa and a copy of her ID, telling them when she started receiving the grant. The documents need to be faxed to the SABC on 011 330 9560/1. The SABC will process the application and if approved, the licence will be converted and the account will be credited with any outstanding balance.
