THE FACTS
NOMVULA Sithole from Dobsonville, Soweto bought a wardrobe at Fair Price.
She said after it was delivered, she saw that the mirror was cracked and the backboard was loose. Nomvula said when she took it back to the furniture shop, the manager told her there was nothing he could do.
WHAT I DID
I spoke to Ammara Patel at Fair Price, who promised to investigate.
SOLUTION
Patel said the wardrobe couldn’t be replaced as the crack in the mirror was caused by the customer’s negligence.
Someone from the shop was sent to check the wardrobe and it was found that the customer had moved it to another room, causing the crack.
The mirror was not cracked when the wardrobe was delivered, and the customer had signed an acknowledgement that the wardrobe was received in good order. The shop offered to repair the backboard, but the customer refused.
