THE FACTS

PETER Machete from Chiawelo, Soweto, contacted Sun Defender about his problem with his former employer.

He had an employment contract from 2018 to last year. And according to their agreement, they were contributing towards his UIF.

When his contract ended, he submitted his claim for UIF by sending his UI-19 to the Labour Department, which asked for a salary schedule.

He asked his employer for the schedule, which they promised to give him, but never did.

ADVICE

When your employer refuses to provide you with the salary schedule, you must involve the Department of Labour.

It will send an inspector to the employer to implement regulations that are in place to make sure that he complies with the request.
