THE FACTS

BONGANI Mbazo from Tembisa, Ekurhuleni said he resigned from a company and upon his resignation, he wasn’t paid for the days he had worked.

When he checked again he realised that he was also not paid his leave money. He has tried to call his HR manager to have the issue resolved, but with no success.

He asked SunDefender for advice.

ADVICE

The law states that when an employee resigns, he or she is entitled to a salary until the last day of work and any outstanding leave money.

If your employer does not pay you, you can contact your nearest Department of Employment and Labour office to lay a complaint since they are the ones that have jurisdiction on labour issues.
