BALL IS IN MADALA'S COURT

accreditation

THE FACTS

MADALA Mcunu Bekilanga from Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, contacted the SunDefender regarding his grant.
He said that since May last year there has been a R150 unauthorised deduction from his grant every month and he has been struggling to stop the deductions.
Madala Mcunu said he had no idea who was making the deductions.

WHAT I DID

I contacted Nandi Mosia from Sassa and she promised to investigate what was happening.

SOLUTION

Mosia said according to the madala’s grant records for the past three months, it was found that R150 a month was being deducted for a funeral policy underwritten by Trans-Africa.
She said the only way the company was allowed to deduct from the beneficiary’s account was if the client had signed for the policy. Sassa was unable to cancel the policy because the policy holder had to do it himself.
Madala Mcunu was contacted and provided with the contact numbers for Trans-Africa.
