THE FACTS
NOMALANGA Khumalo from Sharpeville, Vaal, said that she had been paying R120 a month to a funeral parlour from 2012 to 2017, but then the owner of the parlour disappeared.
She and others who have the same problem have been trying to trace the owner, but with no luck. All they have is a phone and ID number.
ADVICE
Nomalanga and the others can appoint a tracing agent using the ID number to find the owner.
The challenge is that their claims may have prescribed.
Claims prescribe after three years. It means the claim may have expired.
So depending on when the last payment was made in 2017, the matter may have prescribed.
