NOT being able to use his hands hasn’t stopped DJ Kay-H from playing music.

The 24-year-old from Mamelodi East, Tshwane, mixes and deejays on his phone with his foot and has been playing for seven years.

“I wanted to sing, but it was a problem because I can’t talk properly. So I decided to mix music,” said Kay-H, whose real name is Mokhokheli Machinga.

He said people don’t know him yet. He plays mostly at home and at family parties.

“I don’t have a particular genre. I love amapiano, but I play everything,” he said.

The young DJ recently met famous DJs.

He said: “Someone saw me on Instagram and hooked me up with Stoan from Bongo Maffin, who introduced me to other DJs.

“They gave me advice and motivated me.”

He said he was also given new equipment.

“I’ve been using my phone ever since I started, and I’m happy I was given new equipment.”

Kay-H wants to have an annual birthday show.

“I’ll start on my Instagram live on 13 September,” he said.

“I’ll play live for my fans and hope this will be an annual thing.”

His family had been supportive. They said he needed a laptop, so he could use his new equipment.

Kay-H will appear on TV soon.

“We shot an interview for Sun’Ceda,” said the DJ, whose dream is to have a TV music show.
