MTN has launched MTN Chat, a service that runs through WhatsApp and is the world’s first innovation in terms of mobile according to Mapula Bodibe who is MTN SA Executive for Consumer Business Unit.

MTN Chat allows customers to conveniently top up airtime and bundles on WhatsApp.

There are 15 million people that use WhatsApp on the MTN network and this service screams out convenience.

The service brings a human side to a digital service and will soon evolve to even more services on the app and MTN hopes to incorporate other instant messaging platforms such as Facebook Messenger down the line.

Just when using any other App, there are security concerns regarding using bank card details for purchases.

Security is a high priority and safety and confidentiality features have been built in to MTN Chat to provide a secure means of communication. Customers interact with a single number that has a verification marker to mitigate fraud.

IOS users can also use the screen lock feature on WhatsApp as an added security measure. This means that you will need to use touch id or face id to open WhatsApp. It is available on the latest version of WhatsApp and can be activated by going into Settings- Account-Privacy and selecting screen lock.
