GOD GRANTED US POWER OVER SATAN

ONE of the greatest gifts God gave mankind is power and authority over Satan and his wicked kingdom. Luke 10:19-20 says: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven”. Luke 9:1 says: “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases.”

Satan was one of the superior angels in heaven. He occupied a senior and influential position in the kingdom of God. He was initially called Lucifer, or the angel of light. Satan therefore has an immense understanding of the operations within God’s kingdom.

When he rebelled against God, he influenced a third of the entire angelic host and they supported his quest. God fought against Satan and his allies, but were expelled from heaven and sent back to earth.

This background gives us a better understanding of Satan, his knowledge of the kingdom system, and his strength.

An important principle in war is the requirement to know your enemy. God knew that it would be impossible for His children to fight and conquer Satan unless they were empowered with the right power and authority. Child of God, we are given power and authority to rule over Satan and his demons.

God has granted His children total power over Satan. This power requires both knowledge and faith to be realised.
