NOT only has their club united them – it also made them best friends!

So says the club’s treasurer and founder, Frans “Born Again” Motsene.

Frans started Re A Thusa Social Club in Winterveldt, north of Tshwane.

Being one of the staff members at Dr Sam Motsuenyane Comprehensive School, Frans said the idea to form a club came soon after he was hired at the school in 2010.

“I saw that as colleagues we were very much apart from one another like enemies.

“That is when I approached a few staff members who were positive and fully supported the idea,” Frans told the SunStokvel team.

“We meet only on Friday after school to do the club’s business inside the school premises,” said Frans.

During their gathering they contribute R100 each and after meetings the treasurer deposits the money into the club’s account.

When the year ends, dividends are shared according to each member’s savings through the year.

Club member and staffer, Mavis Ngcobo said the money helped them fulfil their wishes.

“I helps me to buy Christmas clothes and enough food for my kids’” said Mavis.

Mavis, who is also the club’s chairwoman, said she hoped other staff members would join them.
