THIS is Atlehang.

Members of this newly-launched society see their group being a success far into the future.

Chairman Mpho Phofi said they started Atlehang this year in Caleb Motshabi, a kasi in Mangaung in the Free State. The 20 members came together to create something that would make them happy.

Chairman Mpho said: “Our society’s focus is not only sharing our savings at the end of the year but also on saving to buy groceries so members don’t have to spend their money buying food.

“We also help financially by donating money to one member every month. Every month, a different member gets a payout.”

Mphuthi Motou said he was happy to be part of Atlehang.

“This is a good society because we have very good communication. The society is also disciplined – rule breakers have to pay hefty fines.

“Each member decides how much money they want to contribute every month.

“We also do lots of planning on which groceries to buy. We work out which brands are the best value for the price.

“It’s important that everyone walks home happy at the end of the year,” said Mphuthi.
