SEAFOOD Bisque Day is held on this day every year.

It is when seafood lovers celebrate by enjoying a bowl of tasty soup made from the catch of the day!

Seafood bisque is a smooth, creamy and highly seasoned soup of French origin. It is made from a base broth of crustaceans such as lobster, crab, shrimp or crayfish.

The name bisque is probably derived from the Bay of Biscay, where France joins Spain. The crustaceans are certainly “bis cuites”, or twice cooked.

They are first sautéed lightly in their shells, then simmered in wine or cognac and aromatic herbs, before being strained and served.
