STARTING a business is not easy.
This is a lesson businessman Tshepo Monamudi learned the hard way when he started Sporo’s Cookout sessions two years ago.
Also called Sporo Street Cookout on social media, it was the dream of Tshepo and his partner Xolani Mazibuko. They wanted to create a platform where food lovers could come together to enjoy food, music and great company.
Tomorrow, various visitors will gather on Rabasotho Road, next to Naheng Primary School in Voslorous, to celebrate the venue’s two-year anniversary.
He said that when they launched the cookout at his Vosloorus house, they had over 200 visitors.
“I was surprised to see so many of my friends and family come to support me but since then, a lot of extra hard work was required to achieve the best results.”
Tshepo said he was grateful that he is able to provide a lot of local entrepreneurs and small businesses a special platform where they could advance and develop their businesses.
“I have had people come to me and tell me how grateful they were for the things they were able to achieve because of what they learned at the cookout about operating their businesses.
“We are working on taking this brand on a nationwide tour and eventually, having an ultimate national cookout.
“A Mzansi tour will not only reveal South Africa’s many food cultures but also be a vehicle for job creation.”
